Allison is an advancement professional with a passion for enhancing the student experience in the higher education setting. She has over a decade of experience working in education, where she developed a finely tuned skillset for increasing constituent giving, engaging alumni, and managing volunteer efforts. She looks forward to building relationships with Madison House students and alumni, and learning how to better serve the community and enhance service-based learning experiences.

Allison, a Crozet native, started her career as a high school teacher in Henrico County after getting her B.A. in History with Secondary Education at Longwood University. She received her M. Ed. in Higher Education from University of Virginia in 2015, and began her career in fundraising at Washington & Lee University shortly after graduating. In 2018 Allison returned to UVA to work on the advancement team at the School of Nursing.

She resides just outside of Charlottesville with her partner, young children, and silver lab puppy, Hooper.

Christine is a lifelong logophile who is driven by the belief that we are all a story away from understanding each other. Her passion is creating dynamic written and visual content that sparks curiosity and engagement. With 20+ years of experience in the education, health and wellness, and hospitality industries, she has experience building partnerships across sectors that mobilize communities and inspire action. Through her work at Madison House, she especially enjoys telling stories of volunteer impact and community engagement.

Christine is an adjunct faculty member at PVCC and was formerly a K-12 Spanish teacher. She believes that valuing diverse cultures and perspectives, understanding the interconnectedness of the world, and solving problems that transcend borders is more important than ever. She embraces the role of student as much as teacher and enjoys reading, research, and furthering her own professional education.

Born in Connecticut and raised in Northern Virginia, Christine came to Charlottesville to attend UVA. She earned a Master of Teaching degree and a B.A. in Spanish with a minor in history. She currently serves as President of the Board of Directors at the Center at Belvedere. In her free time she loves to hike and explore the world.


Dymond Boone

Dymond is a passionate, enthusiastic professional with a proven background in marketing before seamlessly transitioning into the dynamic world of development. Equipped with a degree in communications, she not only understands the value of effective messaging but exudes a genuine appreciation for the intricate power of words. As she immerses herself in the world of development, she aspires to synergize her diverse skill set and knowledge to fuel the expansion of Madison House.

Though her current journey has led her to new horizons, Gatesville, North Carolina, remains her cherished hometown. Dymond’s leisure hours are often spent unwinding at charming shops and indulging in a bit of retail therapy.


 

Farida Ahadi

Farida is an Afghan American, who grew up in Afghanistan and moved to the United States in 2015. After Farida moved to Charlottesville, she began studying Business Administration at PVCC. She worked with UVA's food and beverage services for almost three years, where she enjoyed building relationships and providing excellent customer service. Farida is passionate about her work at Madison House and especially enjoys assisting with the free tax preparation program.

Farida is currently pursuing her bachelor’s degree in Management at Old Dominion University. When she finishes her undergraduate degree, she hopes to earn a Ph.D. Ultimately, Farida would like to work for an industry or run her own company where she can research and apply her skills and knowledge to solve critical global issues.

Farida, her husband, and two sons live in the Charlottesville area. In her free time, Farida enjoys traveling, shopping, going to the gym, swimming, and spending time with family. 


Jo DiGennaro

Jo is a teacher, researcher, and connection-seeker. She recently graduated from UVA with a Master’s in Educational Psychology. Prior to graduate study, Jo was a high school Science and Music teacher. Her experiences in alternative educational settings, both in the US and Eastern Africa, have led Jo to big questions about optimal child learning and development. Through her work at Madison House, Jo strives to explore these questions via the lens of community engagement. 

Jo has lived many places, but calls Colorado home. She resides in Charlottesville with her pup, Walden. In her free time she enjoys running, reading, and live music. 


John Piller

John Piller is an experienced educator, editor, and manager who finds great satisfaction helping others reach their highest potential. He taught college for seven years at the University of Virginia and the University of Richmond, high school for four years at the Renaissance High School, and pre-school for three years at the McKinley Montessori School. With over two decades of yoga and mindfulness teaching experience, John was the founding Director of the Mind Body program at the Atlantic Coast Athletic Club. In addition to teaching, John served as a writing coach for high school students and worked for a local health advocacy non-profit organization that was a placement site for Madison House. John is a lifelong volunteer with various advocacy, health, and youth organizations that align with his passion to serve others.

John grew up in Mendota, Illinois, earned his BA from Luther College, his MA in English from CSU-Sacramento, and his MFA from the University of Virginia. He was awarded the Academy of American Poets Prize, a Virginia Commission for the Arts grant, and a Virginia Center for Creative Arts residency. John is married to Cindy Fredrick, and has two sons, Samuel and Lucas. He enjoys traveling with his family (Greece and Guatemala are two favorites) and hiking with his Bernese Mountain Dog, Casey.


 

Martha Trujillo
CASH & VITA Coalition Coordinator

Originally from Mexico City with a degree in administration, Martha has spent the last 23 years in Charlottesville volunteering and working as an interpreter and translator for different non-profit organizations.

As a former chair of Creciendo Juntos, and as a graduate of Leadership Charlottesville and the CIC’s Entrepreneur Program, Martha continues to seek new ways to connect with people and pass along what she has learned. Being bilingual, she regularly engages in continuing education that improves partner communications and interactions, and she attends online courses offered by UnADAM and UNAM.

Martha brings more than 16 years of experience in tax preparation to Madison House. Her passion for seeing people grow fuels her tireless commitment to teaching people new skills. She feels her greatest achievement is when she’s given someone the confidence and knowledge to do something independently.  


Rose Cole
 

Rose Cole, PhD
Senior Director of Community Engagement

Dr. Rose Cole is a practitioner, scholar and evaluator of public service programming and community-based teaching, learning and research. She spent the past five years working at the University of Virginia supporting public service and community engagement within the division of student affairs. Rose is passionate about creating and growing capacity for equitable and ethical community-based learning experiences at UVA. Her research and publications focus on civic engagement, global service learning, college student activism, community-based curricular experiences, civic identity development and higher education for global citizenship.

Dr. Cole is an Appalachian who came to Charlottesville by way of West Virginia. She earned her PhD in Educational Leadership, Foundations, and Policy in the Higher Education program at the Curry School of Education at UVA. She also received a B.A. in history, a B.A. in English, and a Masters in Public Administration & Nonprofit Leadership from West Virginia University (WVU) in Morgantown, WV before working there as an academic program coordinator in the WVU Honors College and the Leadership Studies Program. She lives in Albemarle County with her two young sons and partner.


Tim Mullen

Tim is a creative professional, passionate about helping diverse people with shared values work towards similar goals, and the intersection of that work with identity development. He spent 6 years tutoring at Erie Community College, two years working in the Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Binghamton University while attending graduate school, and a year and a half working with student health and college access at Florida Atlantic University.

He has also spent five years building LGBTQ+ communities with different nonprofits and offered creative problem-solving consultant work to community groups in Buffalo.

He is a strong believer in state university systems, having earned his M.A. in College Student Affairs from Binghamton University and a B.A. in Psychology from Buffalo State College.

Originally from Buffalo, Tim is excited to put his education and experience to work supporting the mission of Madison House. He is now living in Charlottesville with his partner and rescue Yorkie.
