Mary Denlinger

Mary brings more than 20 years of experience facilitating the progression of college students’ learning beyond the bounds of campus through student-led community engagement. Mary earned her M.Ed. in College Student Personnel Administration at James Madison University, a B.A. in International Studies from Virginia Tech, and a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Duke. She has connected thousands of students to local and global experiential learning opportunities through the Arlington Fellows Program at George Mason University, the McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University, the Kernodle Center for Civic Life at Elon University, and the Center for Community Engagement at Gonzaga University. Prior to Madison House, she returned to the Community Engagement and Volunteer Center at JMU to advise and support faculty designing and implementing community-engaged learning courses. Mary is excited to draw upon these various experiences and models to advance Madison House's storied tradition of student empowerment and positive community impact.
Originally from West Virginia, Mary is happiest around mountains and resides in Crozet, VA. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, hiking and camping, trying new recipes with her cookbook club, and reading past bedtime.
Allison D. M. Reed
Senior Director of Advancement

Allison is an advancement professional with a passion for enhancing the student experience in the higher education setting. She has over a decade of experience working in education, where she developed a finely tuned skillset for increasing constituent giving, engaging alumni, and managing volunteer efforts. She looks forward to building relationships with Madison House students and alumni, and learning how to better serve the community and enhance service-based learning experiences.
Allison, a Crozet native, started her career as a high school teacher in Henrico County after getting her B.A. in History with Secondary Education at Longwood University. She received her M. Ed. in Higher Education from University of Virginia in 2015, and began her career in fundraising at Washington & Lee University shortly after graduating. In 2018 Allison returned to UVA to work on the advancement team at the School of Nursing.
She resides just outside of Charlottesville with her partner, young children, and silver lab puppy, Hooper.
Christine Thalwitz

Christine is a lifelong logophile who is driven by the belief that we are all a story away from understanding each other. Her passion is creating dynamic written and visual content that sparks curiosity and engagement. With 20+ years of experience in the education, health and wellness, and hospitality industries, she has experience building partnerships across sectors that mobilize communities and inspire action. Through her work at Madison House, she especially enjoys telling stories of volunteer impact and community engagement.
Christine is an adjunct faculty member at PVCC and was formerly a K-12 Spanish teacher. She believes that valuing diverse cultures and perspectives, understanding the interconnectedness of the world, and solving problems that transcend borders is more important than ever. She embraces the role of student as much as teacher and enjoys reading, research, and furthering her own professional education.
Born in Connecticut and raised in Northern Virginia, Christine came to Charlottesville to attend UVA. She earned a Master of Teaching degree and a B.A. in Spanish with a minor in history. She recently served as President of the Board of Directors at the Center at Belvedere and is proud to be an ambassador for their work as a leading resource for healthy aging. In her free time she loves to hike and explore the world.
Farida Ahadi

Farida is an Afghan American, who grew up in Afghanistan and moved to the United States in 2015. After Farida moved to Charlottesville, she began studying Business Administration at PVCC. She worked with UVA's food and beverage services for almost three years, where she enjoyed building relationships and providing excellent customer service. Farida is passionate about her work at Madison House and especially enjoys assisting with the free tax preparation program.
Farida is currently pursuing her bachelor’s degree in Management at Old Dominion University. When she finishes her undergraduate degree, she hopes to earn a Ph.D. Ultimately, Farida would like to work for an industry or run her own company where she can research and apply her skills and knowledge to solve critical global issues.
Farida, her husband, and two sons live in the Charlottesville area. In her free time, Farida enjoys traveling, shopping, going to the gym, swimming, and spending time with family.
Martha Trujillo

Originally from Mexico City with a degree in administration, Martha has spent the last 23 years in Charlottesville volunteering and working as an interpreter and translator for different non-profit organizations.
As a former chair of Creciendo Juntos, and as a graduate of Leadership Charlottesville and the CIC’s Entrepreneur Program, Martha continues to seek new ways to connect with people and pass along what she has learned. Being bilingual, she regularly engages in continuing education that improves partner communications and interactions, and she attends online courses offered by UnADAM and UNAM.
Martha brings more than 16 years of experience in tax preparation to Madison House. Her passion for seeing people grow fuels her tireless commitment to teaching people new skills. She feels her greatest achievement is when she’s given someone the confidence and knowledge to do something independently.
Tim Mullen
Assistant Director of Student Programming

Tim is a creative professional, passionate about helping diverse people with shared values work towards similar goals, and the intersection of that work with identity development. He spent 6 years tutoring at Erie Community College, two years working in the Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Binghamton University while attending graduate school, and a year and a half working with student health and college access at Florida Atlantic University.
He has also spent five years building LGBTQ+ communities with different nonprofits and offered creative problem-solving consultant work to community groups in Buffalo.
He is a strong believer in state university systems, having earned his M.A. in College Student Affairs from Binghamton University and a B.A. in Psychology from Buffalo State College.
Originally from Buffalo, Tim is excited to put his education and experience to work supporting the mission of Madison House. He is now living in Charlottesville with his partner and rescue Yorkie.
