In honor of the 200th anniversary of the approval of the University’s Charter as Central College of Charlottesville, and in recognition of President James E. Ryan’s commitment to community, discovery, and service, Madison House is partnering with Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry and the UVA Club of Charlottesville for a day of service.
To mark this milestone, Madison House will be holding a food drive in partnership with Loaves & Fishes where volunteers will gather donations curbside.
Where & When?
Madison House
170 Rugby Road, Charlottesville, VA 22903
Saturday, January 26, 2019
9am - 12pm EST
Stop by Madison House with your donated food goods and meet Madison House staff and the many student volunteers and UVA Charlottesville Club members who help Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry provide healthy groceries to almost 60,000 area people each year.
Why?
January is a difficult month for those facing hunger, and nearly 17% of Charlottesville families face food insecurity. While donations dwindle after the holidays, hunger remains, and even a single day of giving can make an impact in the lives of many.
We encourage alumni, parents, friends, volunteers, and students to give their time to support this community effort. Madison House is the independent, nonprofit volunteer center for UVA students that engages more than 3,000 students each year in local volunteer efforts.
How Can You Help?
See a list of food items needed by the Charlottesville Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry below. We encourage all those who wish to donate on Saturday, January 26th, 2019 to bring at least one item from the list below.
Please contact the Madison House Director of Communications Alys Sink at alys@madisonhouse.org for further information.
Thank you for helping to combat food insecurity within our Charlottesville community!
